YABA4 - clue 10
Agent 006-½ was instructed to meet with four of MI6's informants
in order to obtain directions to the next clue site for
you. He has given you the transcript below, with the caveat
that some of the informants are suspected of being double
agents for Dr. Zeus and thus perhaps may have been shading
the truth.
In fact, they didn't simply lie to him. While one always
speaks the truth, one of the double agents always lies,
one alternates truth and falsehood (his first statement
can be a truth or a lie), and one mimics the truth value
of the previous statement (if the previous person tells
a lie, the mimicker also tells a lie). If the mimicker begins
the conversation, he can lie or tell the truth.
In order to find the next location, you must figure out
who is who, and then you must only follow truthful directions.
Note: Assume that you only have the first seven statements
(through Geoffrey's first comment) to use for the logic
puzzle. Only after you have solved who is who, are you given
the rest of the dialogue. Then think of all of the statements
below (including the first) as one continuous dialog.
Ivor: Careful, Jason lies at least sometimes.
Jason: But when I do, then if Dylan follows me, he does
as well.
Dylan: (shrug) You see, I am the mimicker.
Jason: Geoffrey is the truth teller.
Dylan: Actually, I lie all the time, or alternate between
truth and lies.
Jason: I do know that Ivor is not the mimicker.
Geoffrey: This clue does not have a unique solution.
Jason: Here's what you should do: Take the number of the
pier located just south of China Basin.
Ivor: No, take the number of the pier in San Francisco
with the highest numeric designation.
Geoffrey: No, take the number of the pier located just
north of PacBell Park.
Dylan: Then divide by the number of the pier located just
southeast of the Ferry Building.
Jason: No, divide by the number of the pier that supports
the Bay Bridge.
Geoffrey: Now you should multiply by the number of different
actors who have played James Bond in the official Bond movies.
Jason: No, multiply by the number of Bond films in which
Timothy Dalton played James Bond.
Dylan: No, multiply by the number of the secret agent with
whom M threatens to replace James Bond in Goldfinger, and
again in The Living Daylights.
Ivor: No, multiply by James Bond's secret agent number.
Dylan: Then add the numeric designation of the street in
San Francisco that's geographically nearest to the street
bearing the current James Bond actor's last name.
Geoffrey: No, add the numeric designation of the street
in the Richmond District that Funston would be, if it had
been numbered.
Dylan: Then add the ten's digit of Barry Bond's jersey
number.
Ivor: No, add the number of masts there are on the Balclutha.
Geoffrey: No, add the number of soccer fields depicted
on the AAA map as being located on the west side of Golden
Gate Park.
Jason: Go to the Port Walk sign near the chapel on the
pier with this numeric designation.
Geoffrey: No, go to the Port Walk sign near the ferry ramp
at the pier with this numeric designation.
Dylan: No, go to the very end of the pier with this numeric
designation.
