The key to this little story was the postmark from Sonoma
and the various hidden Sonoma County references: Jack
London, Glen Ellen, Windsor, Bodega Bay, Petaluma.
The view on the postcard was from the top of Montgomery
Street at Green, about a block from Sonoma Alley.
Unfortunately, the license plate we'd placed here the
night before (which appropriately enough was "SUR U DO",
in response to the previous location's plate's question,
"DYOU KNOW?") had disappeared prior to the start of the
game, so that many teams were unnecessarily delayed, seeking
the correct location. We eventually threw this clue out.
Granted, this did not mitigate the loss of game time for
those persistent teams who spent a lot of time in the
alley, but it was the fairest thing we could think of.
Next year, there will be a back-up for problems of this
nature, we promise!
Note: the addressee, Miranda Frost, was a femme fatale
in the Bond movie which was due to come out last summer.
And her address in London was - at the time - the actual
address of one of Alexandra's best friends, Lynn Stewart,
who lives in London.
